Christopher Beasley, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington Tacoma. As a community psychologist, he conducts communityengaged research to strengthen communities while participating in grassroots organizing to support such settings and helping students develop the capacity for this work. He is the principal investigator for the Post-Prison Education Research Lab, which seeks to better understand factors affecting transitions from prison to college. Dr. Beasley is also helping develop a Husky Post-Prison Pipeline to strengthen support for people making these transitions to UWT. As community organizer, Dr. Beasley co-founded the Formerly Incarcerated College Graduates Network – a national organization of people with college degrees who have been to prison whose core mission is to promote the education and empowerment of formerly incarcerated people through a collective community and is a board director for Civil Survival--a nonprofit organization developing the civic capacity of people impacted by the justice system |
