Workforce Development Director
P2P is taking an active role in the workforce space by being a convener, connector and collaborator, as well as a place to consolidate workforce information and data; all to ensure access to workforce opportunities to scholars, alumni and the leadership team.
A director of workforce development manages the workforce development programs within P2P. Responsibilities are to develop and implement plans for workforce training, be a liaison between scholars, leadership and partners to find and gain meaningful employment. Within P2P coordinate with team to determine areas that need attention, and administer new training plans and practices for the organization. As director of workforce development, will stay up to date on current training practices and trends in the labor markets. Additionally, be responsible for providing reports and present locally and nationally on the importance of investing in 2nd chances.

- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strengthen communication between P2P and businesses and industries on a state by state level.
- Be an active team member on the local workforce development boards and committees.
- Organize and manage advisory committees for all occupational training programs.
- When necessary, conducts surveys, needs assessments, and research to determine customized training offerings for scholars.
- Promote and provide adult upskilling and retraining, customized training, and related instruction for individuals and companies.
- Update employment manual on a regular basis.
- Train individuals who need to upgrade their current job skills and/or develop new job skills to remain in their current occupations or find new employment.
- Actively research, write, submit, and manage workforce training grants, as well as pursue other avenues of workforce training funds.
- Publicize, through P2P social sites, SLACK, training classes, collaborative efforts, grants, etc.
- Coordinate curriculum planning and development for customized training classes.
- Recruit and evaluate workforce training programs.
- Evaluate training programs to assure courses are of quality and in compliance with mission of P2P.
- Work closely with academic institutions and non for profits to provide collaborative opportunities to scholars focused on meaningful and gainful employment.
- Plan, organize, direct, and control the functions of the Workforce Development office.
- Articulate the mission of P2P and its Strategic Plan.
- Prepare and strive to achieve annual goals complementary to the mission of the P2P.
- Facilitate communication with and work for common interests of P2P scholars, mentors, tutors, staff, and leadership.
- Participate in university meetings/committees as appropriate.
- Be willing and able to work at nontraditional times (evenings, Saturdays, during regular holidays and breaks, and occasionally a Sunday).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (graduate degree preferred) and three to five years’ of relevant experience in conducting training programs; ability to work independently; coordinate and direct multiple programs with little or no direct supervision; possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
