Harold Dean Trulear, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Applied Theology at Howard University School of Divinity. He currently teaches Prophetic Ministry, Ethics and Politics, Ministry and Criminal Justice, and Church and Community Studies. Prior to Howard, he served as Visiting Distinguished Professor of Religion and Public Policy at Eastern University. He also held faculty positions at Yale University, Colgate Rochester Divinity School, The Center for Urban Theological Studies (Geneva College), and Jersey City State College. He served as Dean for First Professional Programs at New York Theological Seminary (1990-96). He is currently a pastoral associate at Praise and Glory Tabernacle in Philadelphia. Dr. Trulear has lectured for university, church and professional organizations across the country, He is the author of over 100 articles, book chapters, essays and published sermons. He directs a national research and demonstration project called "Healing Communities," mobilizing congregations to support those returning from incarceration through the establishment of family and social support networks. With Charles Lewis and W. Wilson Goode, he is co-editor of the book Ministry with Prisoners and Families: The Way Forward (Judson Press 2011). |
