Lisette Bamenga
Lisette B. Hughes is the Curriculum Director for the Racial Justice and Abolition Democracy project at Columbia University. She also provides Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training with Prison to Professionals, Inc. Lisette used to teach for close to a decade in NYC schools, but after an involvement with the legal system, she found a new sense of purpose in supporting people impacted by the legal system.
Lisette received a BA in Psychology and Spanish from Drew University, an MS in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education, and Students with Disabilities from Mercy College, and is currently pursuing an Ed D in Learning and Teaching with a concentration in Human Development and Educational Psychology from Hofstra University and has a special interest in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in education. She lives by this quote from Nelson Mandela: "education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
